  2. I love this photo! I can almost see the deer wondering about those poor two-legged creatures trapped behind those walls.

  3. Now that made me laugh out loud. Wonderful title. I'm sure she tells all her friends about the strange creatures she saw in that cage.

  5. Wonder what the deer thought about the strange two-legged creatures inside the zoo? Great photograph.

  6. It is quite a odd feeling to be sitting there, in your cozy living room, enjoying a book or whatever, and then to look up and see this creature looking in. I wonder what goes on in that tiny deer brain? I do, indeed, feel as if I am the animal on display in this situation.

  8. I wondered at the title--then I saw the photo.

Of course...and here is the sad commentary on the human condition...we put ourselves in the zoo.

I take it that the deer fence around the garden has been effective? Seeing the deer so close to the house has reminded me to ask.

  10. I'm deep into a big fat John Muir reader, and he has been describing time spent in Yosemite helping take care of a herd of sheep. Muir loved and admired deer, and had lovely things to say about them, particularly the ways they fit into their environment as compared to the poor old sheep...

  11. We've not had any deer quite that close that I have seen but I know they have been next to the house as they have eaten some of our bushes and left their tracks. We've not seen as many this winter yet.
