Wordless Wed: Why Band-Tailed Pigeons Drive Us Crazy

  1. They sure do hog up a feeder. When that happens to me with cow birds, I quit feeding everyone for a week and they go away. The cool birds are optimistic and stick around.

  2. I don't like pigeons and I don't like doves for that very reason.

  3. Nobody eats there any more, it's too crowded.

  4. But look at the photos you get out of them!

Anyway, they're no worse than any other bird that comes in a flock to a feeder; they're just larger so they take up more room and seed.

  5. I hate them.....they can eat my entire month's budget of bird food in ONE sloppy encounter, pooping on the feeder at the same time. They are the ONE bird I'll go out on the deck and shoo off. **I know, me bad.

  6. You guys posted in May and that would be the normal time they invade our area moving from the valley in Oregon to the coast range for breeding. Thing is, yesterday Mar 7, 2014, the first pair arrived. The only people that like them are those that haven't had to contend with their invasion.
