  2. It's good to see these butterflies today! I wonder if any butterflies will visit my dianthus. They are just starting to bloom. I'm wondering if you are in Arcata.

  3. You are a good provider to the little winged ones.
Hope the sale is still in progress.

  4. John-- Thank you!

    Larry-- Glad you liked them.

kathy a-- We love seeing them.

kenju-- All is well, so far so good.

am-- We are not in Arcata yet. Plan to head up there next week to find a place to rent, so we have an address for the movers to go. The butterflies do seem to love the dianthus.

    Annie-- Thank you.

Arkansas Patti-- Sale is in progress. As I type this, there's a house inspector and a terminator inspector in our attic. It's been one crazy few days. Will be glad when we are on the other side of this. We like idea of flowers feeding all of our little winged ones, birds included!

  5. Oh my, a terminator inspector! I am SO glad that I live on the East Coast: The thought of finding a Schwarzenegger in my attic makes my blood run cold.

The photos of the butterflies are lovely. It's interesting how they look not quite like their East coast cousins. I find it mind boggling that slightly rearranged markings make them different species, but I guess they really are.

  7. Ccorax-- I can't believe that crazy auto-correct. Terminator? That's wild! I love the subtle differences in species from east coast to west. So beautiful.

    Tara-- Thank you!

  11. Wow, gorgeous things! I've seen just a few tiger swallowtails up here so far. That zebra one is especially striking.

  12. Isabelita-- I'm always so glad when the swallowtails show up. They are so big and beautiful. I didn't get to photograph the one Pipevine Swallowtail we saw this season. I love butterfly season!

  13. When I was a kid, I used to see butterflies everywhere. All types and all colors. I don't see nearly as many today as then. I pay attention, so I know it's not my imagination. Things are changing...

    Beautiful photos Robin!

  15. Pat-- We see a lot of butterflies here. There's plenty of food for them, and they seem quite abundant. Of course, I have no idea what it was like here 40 or 50 years ago. Glad you liked the pics!

    Mark-- Thank you!
