  1. Not always welcome but without that heartbeat the countryside is soon in a sorry state.

  2. I'm guessing that in this case, it is very, very, very, very welcome! Lovely impressionistic image. On this computer, the image has a gold cast, something by which to measure the preciousness of water; to wit, water is more precious than gold.

  3. John-- We are grateful for every drop we get. There is a storm expected today and rain for the rest of the week. It's happy dance time in drought-stricken northern California.

CCorax-- We are so happy the rain that's headed our way. Supposed to be a couple of days of rain. Yes! I should have mentioned that this was taken at sunset and that across the street looking northeast, there was a beautiful rainbow. I just loved the rain on our south-west facing window.

  4. Up here in Seattle it's more of a heart pounding! But needed...
    Lovely image.

  5. Very nice image! We're getting rain in the northern Piedmont today, too. We don't need it as much as you do, but our streams are pretty low right now, so the precipitation is welcome--nice and slow.

  6. isabelita-- Glad you liked the photo. We're expecting a couple of days of rain, which is really great news for us. Always like to see a bit of sunshine between the storms.

Scott-- So glad you liked this photo. It's good news when the rain comes and refills the streams and aquifers. We're happy for every drop we get.

  7. Love that image. I have been so pleased to see Ca is finally getting some blessed rain. May it keep coming till all traces of drought are gone. Soon you can all exhale.

  8. Arkansas Patti-- We had been out in the front of the house trying to photograph a rainbow, but then it started raining much harder. We came in to dry off, and I looked out this window and really liked the raindrops in the setting sunlight. The EKG effect was such a surprise. Yes, we're doing our happy dance for this rain.

  9. Yay!! Rain. Love that golden light that goes with the rain.

You and roger might like a CD called "Heart of the Rain," by a Bellingham pianist named Karen Fitzgerald. You can listen to excerpts from it here:

  10. Loved this picture, it's been so long since we've seen a good rain here in Southern California that with this we would be dancing in the street.

  11. am-- Thank you for the link. I'll go take a listen!

Jimmy-- We've had two more inches of rain in the past 24 hours. It's pretty amazing! I hope southern California gets the rain it needs. Thank you for stopping by.
