Keeping Our Mouths Shut

This
is
not
a
post.

We are not going to post anything for Thursday, July 6th. We're keeping our mouths shut. We're old fashioned that way. Ken Lay is dead, and our parents taught us to never to speak ill of the dead. So, we pulled weeds in the garden on Wednesday. We went into town, and I bought some new hiking shoes. We picked our first batch of raspberries and froze them. The Cooper's Hawk made a rare appearance and scared all the little ones away from the feeder. We stopped shingling for a few days so the tree swallow babies will fledge in peace, and their parents will stop scolding and dive-bombing us. A seventh missile was launched.

Mum's the word.

*Flower pictured is a Fireweed (Epilobium augustifolium), also known as willow herb. It can grow up to 10 feet. It reproduces by both seed and rhizomes. It's a gorgeous, slightly aggressive wildflower weed.
