  3. fantastic! so what kind of snake is the brown one? What kind of spider is the green one? love them! and congrats to coming out you both Rock!!!

  7. Wonderful menagery you got down there! Keep your eye on that mantis, it might produce an egg case. We used to get them in Ohio, and it was amazing to watch the myriad babies emerge when it was time.

  9. i think the brown snake is a gopher snake. i kept one for a year or more when i was a young'un. yes. i fed it. hamburger.

  11. Wow! Where to begin? The snakes are gorgeous. The dragonflies are gorgeous. The argiope and the mantises (aka mantes) are just like the ones we have here. The frog is ineffable, as are all frogs. They're like cats in that way.

    Anyway, I'm so getting an East Coast inferiority complex seeing how many colorful, striking species you have out there!

    Am I imagining it, or is there a greater diversity of species where you are now than in the last place you owned?

  13. Beautiful but I will admit I do not like (make that hate) to be surprised by snakes or big spiders. I think I would be wearing long pants, fully covered shoes and a big hat when walking around your woods! :-)
