  3. Our snow is melting and there is none in the forecast until later this morning. Sigh! Nice to see your greening. Is that a warbler?

  5. Amazing all the snow is gone; you guys warm inside and out now?

  6. Have you identified this bird? I was going to say a "dark-eyed junco", but the beak looks wrong.

And, yes, spring! Our mini-irises have popped up. Love it!

  7. I'm pretty sure this is a Yellow-rumped warbler. We had a bunch of them in the yard on Tuesday, along with the very beautiful Western Bluebird. The colors were wonderful.

  8. Did any of the warblers have obvious yellow parts? (I was going to say "yellow spots" but a vision of a polka-dotted bird flashed in my head . . . :) )

It looks like the east coast is in their range, but I don't think I've ever seen one. Especially on the ground.

Oooh, and western bluebirds! They are beautiful.

  9. So happy for you that spring is warming your beautiful part of the world!

If you have any to spare, toss it on to the prevailing winds and send it cross country, would ya? Thanks!

I did get two close shots of a yellow-rumped warbler, but only because the poor thing flew into a window. Kind of doesn't count.

  10. send some spring our way, please. we are seeing a lot of bird traffic, robin, and some greenery peeking above ground in the gardens, but the pouring rain yesterday (not our normal drizzle!) and these low 40 degree days make for a nippy atmosphere where blankets are my favorite accessory and soup the preferred meal.

hey, roger. we are thinking about you and hoping for the fog to soon clear and strength to erase the fatigue of the past several months.

I hope we get a nice long spring before the summer kicks in.
