Wordless Wednesday: We See You

The furtive American Bittern

Surfaced for just a moment

We see the coot in the corner too

Hiding from ducks that he wants to shoot

Blending in with the reeds

    1. Kim-- We love spotting the ones hiding, and most especially the American Bittern. We saw it on three different occasions, hunting and hiding in the tall reeds.

  2. They were all trying to hide from you but you caught them. Nice job.

    1. Patti-- It's fun to spot them. Not so much the duck hunter, but all the rest!

  4. I do love that bittern. Is it duck-hunting season now? I don't even know!

    1. Steve-- It really was a surprise to see that bittern. They are so secretive. We saw it on three different occasions and were surprised to see how many people walked right past it without noticing. Here duck hunting season lasts for 100 days and will finally end the third week of January. Bang bang bang.

    2. Steve-- It breaks my heart every time I hear a gunshot out there. I can only hope they are lousy shots.
