End of December Photos

I was going to do a post about what a crappy year 2018 was, but seriously you all know what a bummer it was, why be reminded? I was going to do a post about how this New Year's Eve is the 30th anniversary of when Roger and I met, but I've written about it here before. So I thought I'd just end this year with a few of the sights for this the 12th month of the year 2018. It was a rainy and chilly month, so not a lot of photographic opportunities, but some waves, sunrises, and mushroom surprises that grew from the ancient neighborhood fences and woodpiles.

Here's hoping for a wonderful 2019. Happy New Year, friends.

  2. The third from last look a bit like oyster mushrooms. Yum! (Assuming that's what they are). The skies, especially the last knock-your-socks-off one are, well, knocking my socks off. Gorgeous. But it's the ocean photos that pull me in to a world of wonder. That something could be so powerful that a simple photo makes me feel its strength, its depth, its utter indifference to human dreams of limitless power. We are nothing without the ocean; we are nothing when storms or seismic events raise the ocean against us. If ever you wanted to see God incarnate, look no farther than the ocean.

    1. CCorax-- That sunrise was pretty amazing. I remembered thinking that we often say "the sky looked like it was on fire," and this one really did. I so love the ocean. I want to be near it all the time, and it breaks my heart what we humans have done to it.

    1. Patti-- Nothing special for our 30th anniversary except to try and stay awake to celebrate New Year's Eve on east coast time. We used to do that with friends years ago... 9:00 pm in California, the ball drops in NY, and that's that! Here's hoping for a good 2019.

  8. Excellent pictures, as always! I love the sky in the fifth photo, and the mushroom in the fourth is a fly amanita, I believe. If so, that sucker is poisonous. (Which you probably already know.)

    1. Steve-- So glad you liked the photos. Yes, that sunrise in the 5th photo was quite a morning. We did ID that amanita... a definite NO NO for eating.
