Down by the river
where the angels and the devil meet
Where endings come to meet beginnings
And pay Charon's fee
Ten thousand tears you've roamed alone
While drunken prophets on the way
Stopped you to say
By the way
All that's in the milky way
By the way
All the oceans are for you
The moon
For you
Down by the river
Thirsty sailor's kisses line the shore
Where mermaids come to hear
The sweet lies of troubadours
Ten thousand years
You've roamed alone
While drunken prophets on the way
Stopped you to say
By the way
All that's in the milky way
By the way
All the oceans are for you
The moon
For you
The moon
For you
Down by the river
Where the angels and the devil meet
where the angels and the devil meet
Where endings come to meet beginnings
And pay Charon's fee
Ten thousand tears you've roamed alone
While drunken prophets on the way
Stopped you to say
By the way
All that's in the milky way
By the way
All the oceans are for you
The moon
For you
Down by the river
Thirsty sailor's kisses line the shore
Where mermaids come to hear
The sweet lies of troubadours
Ten thousand years
You've roamed alone
While drunken prophets on the way
Stopped you to say
By the way
All that's in the milky way
By the way
All the oceans are for you
The moon
For you
The moon
For you
Down by the river
Where the angels and the devil meet
There are some very talented people out there in YouTubeland. Lyrics seem to have moved on a bit from She Loves You Yeah Yeah Yeah!
ReplyDeleteJohn-- You made me laugh out loud. Thank you for that. Yeah Yeah Yeah!
DeleteThe other day I went to a funeral of a family friend. It was quite an emotional one I found. His Daughters and son were ther along with all the family members. The guy who's was being buried was a very prod man, he went to see his daughter sing at the Operas when ever he could. That funeral was the fist time I had hear her sing even though it was a recording. It was amazing considering the lady is under 5ft tall. If you get a chance listen her name is Mary Plazas. I've known her for years
ReplyDeleteBilly-- I went and found some of Mary Plazas' music. It's so beautiful. It made me realize how singing opera makes the voice a stunning instrument.
DeleteWonderful song. Thanks for printing the lyrics also.
ReplyDeletePatti-- I'm glad you liked it.
DeleteHaunting.
ReplyDelete37paddington-- Yes, I think haunting as well.
DeleteA beautiful tune by a very talented young woman.
ReplyDeleteCatalyst-- I love knowing there are such talented young people out there these days.
DeleteIt's lovely. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteNCmountainwoman-- Happy to share it.
DeleteThe depth of her creativity is so exciting. A poet songwriter.
ReplyDeleteColette-- Yes, a poet songwriter. I so agree with you about the depth of her creativity.
Deleteshe has such a sweet, clear voice. the song is very mysterious to me...it will take awhile to decipher it, but it's lovely to listen to. Sometimes lyrics are just so elusive but coalesce with the music in a wonderful way.
ReplyDeleteTara-- I love her voice. When I think about what the lyrics mean to me, I think it is a beautiful poem to a lost wandering soul. It reminds us all that the Milky Way, the oceans, the moon are here for us. Look around and find solace there.
