A dove of peace might be more appropriate, though I understand that Jesus had a special place in his heart for all kinds of fishermen. St Cuthbert would certainly have approved; he spent years on a rock in the North Sea surrounded by the seabirds. The Eider Duck is still known in the North-East as Cuddy's Duck, named after the saint.

ReplyDeleteJohn-- I love this perspective. This beautiful spiritual acknowledgement of the wild world.
DeleteGot a good view from up there. Not somthing I have come accross on the roofs of our churches usualy crows of pigions
ReplyDeleteBilly-- I was surprised to see this Great Blue Heron up there. He took off right after I clicked this photo.
DeleteWhat would you have captioned it? I'm curious.
ReplyDelete37paddington-- Good question. I think I would caption it, "When the wild world rests for moment next to the world of spirit and faith."
DeleteI also wonder what you might have captioned it.
ReplyDeleteColette-- Or, I might have captioned it, "A heron wonders what the world of human religion and symbols mean."
Deleterobin,
ReplyDeleteI really like that last caption of yours to Colette. Better than any I could think of .
Patti-- Glad you liked that caption!
DeleteHoly Heron!
ReplyDeleteCatalyst-- You made me laugh. Thank you for that.
DeleteI am thinking along the lines of "I thought this was a pond, and here it is something completely different...must need glasses."
ReplyDeleteBarbara-- Thank you for the laugh. Yes!
DeleteHa.
