While listening to the 16 1/2 minute song Murder Most Foul by Bob Dylan, Youtube showed me many other songs on the right side of my screen. I noticed this song by Jackson Browne and thought I would listen after being entirely overwhelmed by Dylan's unbelievable, heartbreaking dirge. The beauty of Jackson Browne's song, also about death, is the perfect balance. Jackson doesn't mention it, but he had been diagnosed with Covid-19 in late March. He recorded this song on April 8th. So it was wonderful to see that he had survived the virus and was well enough to be singing such a song.

Lovely Robin. I've always loved Jackson Browne but haven't heard this one.
ReplyDeleteDr Michelle-- I think he only recorded it this one time. We're big fans of Jackson Browne too.
DeleteI got six and a half minutes into Bob's dirge before deciding that I had more cheerful things to be getting on with - even in lockdown! I'll save the rest of the song for another day.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that Jackson Browne pulled through his illness.
John-- Dylan's song really is quite a challenge to listen to. My brother gave up on it too. There's something about the music that I like, but the lyrics are interesting and horribly sad.
DeleteWow, I didn't know Jackson Browne had been sick. He sure does sound the same. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSharon-- I was so glad to see that he had recovered enough to sing this old song.
DeleteI'd heard that he was infected, but I'm glad to hear he's doing better!
ReplyDeleteSteve-- We were so glad that he felt well enough to record this song.
DeleteSo happy he recovered and is back singing. I really liked the guitar playing also.
ReplyDeletePatti-- It is so good to see him singing again after Covid-19.
DeleteThanks for this, Robin. Peace Divine, indeed.
ReplyDeleteTara-- Yes, indeed.
DeleteWoW! I didn't know that. I saw Jackson Browne in concert in Columbia, Maryland in 197.... a few years ago. Awesome concert!
ReplyDeleteDave-- I saw Jackson Browne perform once in Los Angeles, also in the 1970s. It was great.
Deleteenjoyed that.
ReplyDeletebev-- So glad you liked this.
DeleteHe is still cute!
ReplyDeleteColette-- Yes he is!!
