Almost Wordless Wednesday

We've had some beautiful blue skies and sunny weather.
So one day we went to the beach.
Trinidad Head had a bit of low fog in the distance.
A few days later we walked the Moo Cow Loop and saw summer flowers and grasses where the winter season creek flows.
And the clay soil dried in the summer sun looked like paving stones, reminding us why we have to amend the soil here as much as we do to make a garden grow.

And that's all we've got for now.
Take care and stay well friends.

PS-- I put this post together before Joe Biden announced Kamala Harris as his VP running mate. We are so happy with his choice. Now, time to fight hard and win in November!

  1. Lovely summer scenes. I particularly like the flowers along the seasonal stream-bed. In parts of the south of England such features go by the melodic name of "winterbournes".

    1. Barbara-- It was actually two walks, one at the beach and one we call Moo Cow Loop behind our house. Yes, Yay Kamala!

  4. Beautiful photos, and how they do complement the news about Kamala Harris. I dare say that for the first time in a very long time, my heart and head felt just a tiny bit lighter after I heard.

I love the name Moo Cow Loop.

We named that walk Moo Cow Loop. Here's a link to our first post about it:

  5. Goodness those clay pavers sure do show the lack of moisture. Still lovely flowers and grasses that fared much better.
Yes to Kamala and now lets get this over with so we can breathe again.

    1. Patti-- Aren't those clay pavers interesting? That part of the walk is really close to the flowery part. It's wild. Yes to Kamala! Yay!

  7. I'm glad you're happy too, being Californians. I've heard some Californians don't like her. At any rate, I think she was a great choice and I'm looking forward to getting Trump OUT in November!

  9. For those hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of millions of us who are not living in the US but who are terrified and mortified and disgusted and enraged by Donald Trump - we honestly don't care who brings him down and puts him in jail, as long as it happens. Biden seems such a flawed candidate (sound familiar?) and he ran against such extraordinary women in the long, strange trip that was the Democrats road to a nominee....I was so impressed with Kamala Harris in the debates, as she was rightly criticizing Joe Biden and pillorying Donald Trump. Either she or Elizabeth Warren would make such great presidents in the broken horror of America. Next time. But first. This time.

  10. Great to see a picture of the sea. We've not been able to get there for a long time, due to lockdown restrictions and more recently, caution on our part!

  11. I haven't been to the beach in a couple of years and it's only an hour away! right now, too dreadfully hot to go anywhere without shade.

Kamala was a good pick. I don't have anything against Joe and I think he will be a good president. we are so sick of extreme and crazy insults and the whole Trump schtick that Joe's low key, even boring as some people are saying, manner will be a balm to our frazzled nerves.

    1. ellen-- It's been pretty foggy here lately, so on that clear day we ventured out. Have to grab the opportunity when we can. I am so looking forward to being bored by President Biden. I really can't wait!

  12. Good reference to the metamorphosis of mud. Have you ever thought that the simplest of rural scenes may have been conceived and executed by some extra-terrestrial exterior designer. So subtle when you look closer as you have done. That would rule out Jahweh who never did anything subtle.

As a complete non-sequitur a hymn verse slides into and out of my noggin:

They stand those Halls of Zion
    All jubilant with song
And bright with many an angel
    And all the martyr throng
The Prince is ever with them
    The daylight is serene
    The pastures of the blessed
    Are decked in glorious sheen

Hey, not so bad (It has a good rumpty-tumpty tune.) . But you could say the same about Bach's Mass in B Minor.

    Beg pardon. Mysticism briefly descended.

    1. Roderick- I love your perspective, "the metamorphosis of mud." Our planet whirling in the Milky Way, which spreads across some inconceivably small part of the universe was created by nothing that had a consciousness about design.
