Friday Music: A Beautiful Noise

I was hoping to post something, a song that would be celebratory of the outcome of the Presidential election, but as I write this the race has not been called. We wait. We wonder. My siblings and I email and call each other. I tend to look away from the headlines. What else can I do but wait and listen to music like this. Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile singing A Beautiful Noise.

  1. Wow. So moving and beautiful.

Yes it's exhausting watching what is going on in the US but although there will be trouble, I really believe Biden will prevail. Democracy is at stake here and the sensible Republicans can't afford to forget that.

    1. Dr Michelle-- We're still watching and waiting. It's a slow moving train, and we just hope it's not a wreck at the end.

  2. Thank you so much for posting this song. I am still awake at 11:34, just having finished reading We're Better Than This, by Elijah Cummings.

Toward the end of his life Elijah Cummings said, "I am begging the American people to pay attention to what is going on, because if you want to have a democracy intact for your children and your children's children and generations yet unborn, we have got to guard this moment. This is our watch."

  5. The length of time for counting ballots is surprising but I guess the high number of mail in ballots takes time too count.

    2. funny thing, the GOP in the states that are taking the longest, pushed to have the mail in ballots set aside until all vote in person ballots were counted. That's why it's taking so long.

  7. By what I'm hearing on the news you'd better have a good long playlist while you await the result. If it's all as classy as this you'll be fine.

  8. oh, their voices pair beautifully! a great song, here, thank you so much. It's been a hard wait, hasn't it? I tune into the news for brief snippets but it's all speculation and anxiety at this point. Music is helping me get through, too.

  10. It’s been widely quoted that music soothes the soul and that would appear to be so true in anxious times.
