The day started with such a beautiful sunrise with lovely crepuscular rays.
It was such a delight to see that, to know that the day was going to be perfect for a walk at the marsh.
But first I had to photograph the raven on the pole.
We see the ravens here all the time. They love to hang out on our neighbor's roof and fly back and forth on to the pole. They do squawk loudly from time to time, but we don't mind. We shout our hellos.
It surprised us when we got to the marsh and started our walk to see this interesting darkness over the mountains. I loved the sunlight reflected on the metal roof. The darkness didn't last long. In fact behind us the skies were still blue and full of light. (It really was that dark, isn't that wild?)
So we continued on with our walk. Said hello to all the Avocets who are only here for a brief time on their. journey north.
Then we came to this part of the walk and saw the birds on one side of the mud flat, resting and enjoying their quiet time. I liked the moment, very yin yang.
It was a very pretty day out there, a peaceful place to contemplate the passing of Thich Nhat Hanh 🙏
We see ravens around here too. They frighten and amaze me with their sleek black feathers. I haven't seen cute ducks in real life in a long time. You're right the two birds are yin yang. Cool of you to notice.
ReplyDeleteAlly Bean-- Ravens are so smart it's crazy. I've watched videos of them and their display of incredible intelligence. They are amazing. Glad you liked that yin/yang pic. Thank you.
DeleteLoved that dark shot with the silver on the water and how odd how it lit up that roof top. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI had heard of his passing and feel the world lost a great man of peaceful influence.
Patti-- It was such a dramatic sky to the east and so dramatically different to the west. It only lasted a few minutes. It was GREAT!
DeleteYes, a big lost of peaceful influence.
A lovely walk! I liked that dramatic dark photo with the bright roof shining. You are lucky to be able to see those birds by the sea - the beauty of nature!
ReplyDeleteEllenD-- That dark sky was so ephemeral. It didn't last very long and it was truly dramatic. I loved it!
DeleteThe birds here are a delight especially during migrating seasons.
Yes indeed, A very beautiful day, thank you! I needed a beautiful day! Up here as you know, dark sky in a light sky is somewhat common. It is weird to see, rather spooky.
ReplyDeleteLinda Sue-- It's been so crazy warm and sunny here. We actually hit 73 degrees the other day. It's not usually like this EVER!
DeleteYour first picture of the sunrise looks very much like one another friend who live in Utah posted. No ravens here, only their cousins the crows.
ReplyDeleteellen-- I love knowing that the skies looked like that in Utah. Ah, the beauty of our planet.
DeleteBeautiful, live the marsh ones and the stunning dawn, now you have to see my Woodpecker, not quite as scenic as your photos
ReplyDeleteBilly-- Glad you liked the marsh and dawn photos. I just checked your Woodpecker post. What a little beauty you have there!
DeleteStunning images today! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHave you met korppi the raven?

Sabine-- So glad you liked the photos. Thank you!
DeleteI LOVED that video of Korppi the raven. Wow. What a smart bird.
I remember my marsh walk with you fondly. Such a lovely place to get out and feel the earth and its creatures.
ReplyDeleteTara-- We love the marsh. It's always beautiful and a great place for a nice long walk.
DeleteBeautiful. Peaceful. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteam-- Peace and beauty. That's what we hope for always.
DeleteWhen the avocets get here they are spread far and wide. we have to be lucky to see them.
ReplyDeleteRed-- I love knowing the Avocets go there. When they're here, we see them in large flocks. They are so beautiful we wish they would stay longer.
Delete"Relax. Nothing is under control." - Adi Da
ReplyDeleteCatalyst-- Interesting. I've never read this quote before or heard the name Adi Da. It's true nothing is under control.
Delete"Crepuscular" is a wonderful word.
ReplyDeleteColette-- I think so too!
Deletehe was out there with you, in the molecules of everything, in you.
ReplyDelete37paddington-- Yes, he was there, yes.
DeleteYou had me at crepuscular, Robin, and now I will need to remember it and find a way to use it in future. Glad you enjoyed a wonderful outing as well, indeed a perfect day when all was right with the world.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice-- I love crepuscular rays. I see them fairly often. You have to block the sun and see what is happening all around it. I hope you get to see the crepuscular beauty.
