Spring Time

You'd think with all the blue-sky photos I've been posting that the weather has been just lovely. Nope. It's been cold, gray, damp, and uninviting. But in those rare moments when the sun shines in a blue sky, we run (not really, we don't run, we don't even walk fast anymore!) outside for a walk.

This flowering beauty definitely shouts spring in every way. The blossoms lift our hearts as high as the sky. We shout yes to spring beauty, knowing that the rains and winds will return and these white petals will fall gently to the ground.

And then this white-winged black-tipped beauty flies over us, circling the cow pastures looking for lunch. I don't know what kind of hawk this is, but I have an email out to my brother and sister-in-law (the true family birders) and hope to have an answer soon. I googled around and couldn't find a match.

When we got home from our walk, I looked out the window and saw this sweet little thrush (not sure which kind yet) on our fence. I was hoping to hear its song. These birds sing the most beautiful songs in spring.

Everywhere we looked it said spring. It's here. The season of renewal has begun. Yes!

  1. O how I love that little bird in the sunshine!

  2. The usual sort of spring here - snowdrops, hurricane-force winds, daffodils blooming, floods....it'll come, it'll come.

  3. A little slow, perhaps, but yes, Spring is coming...

  4. Gosh, that's so lovely, Robin Andrea! We could use more signs of spring here but I know it is early for us in Illinois yet! Makes me enjoy your glimpses of spring even more! Thank you!

  7. I am looking forward to spring but here it's a long time before it warms up. This morning it's minus 33 C

  8. Thank goodness! I'm glad you're getting some blue skies, if only briefly. :)

  9. Spring seems to be a bit of a tease this year. Blue skies, blooms and birds. Then a 2 day storm hits. Sigh. If the power holds I'm good.

  10. I go walking mostly every day too, in rain and shine. I don't if it's icy or there's slippery snow on the ground. Heavy winds deter me also as huge trees line my route. I'm glad that you prefaced your photos by talking about the mix of gray and pretty weather; otherwise I would have been terribly jealous!

  11. Beauty abounds! Lovely birds. We are covered in white and the temp today did not exceed 11 degrees. Subzero tonight and another frosty day tomorrow. Sometimes around here spring doesn't really come until May. Glad you're feeling it NOW.

  12. Ally sent me here, and am Anonymous only in so far that I'm not using a google account. I'm The Endless Weekend, and I had to enlarge the gorgeous tree image: I wasn't entirely sure if it was blooming flowers... or snow :) I wonder if George R R Martin will write a new series: Spring Is Coming :)

  13. Hi! Ally Bean sent me. I couldn't resist the name of your blog.

I love your photos! Spring is just around the corner here. I can practically feel it lurking and I can hardly wait. It hasn't been that cold of a winter but I'm tired of it anyway.

  14. Just dropped in via Ally Bean's blogroll list to say hi. Obviously you and we live in different places because we're in Arizona now after a lifetime in the Midwest and it's almost always sunny here. :-) All the seasons look quite a bit the same, only the temperature varies. But there's great beauty here and lots of birds, too. I do miss definite seasons, though, and as odd as people here thing it is, I miss winter...although I don't altogether dislike being able to sit on the patio a great deal of the year and walk outside at dawn without 15 layers. (But I did that too.)

    Anyway, happy spring!

  15. I wish I could see spring around here. We've had some warm days but nothing is budding or blooming yet. The birds however definitely think it's spring.
