This...

... is what it has looked like here for quite a while. I have shared with you the few times the sun has been out, showing rainbows and iridescent clouds, halos and crepuscular rays. But for the most part this is what it has looked like for weeks. So, I thought I'd show you the view from our Sunday morning walk.

The flowers, egret, and heron were a wonderful balance to the gray gray grayness of these times. This last photo shows how it lightened up a bit while we were out there, but it was still a gray sky. This persistent gray is why my twin brother decided to head back south and not buy a home here.

Hope it's sunny and beautiful where you are and that you're out enjoying every moment of it.

  1. Makes me think of Ireland where summer is usually one day - and over before you blink.

    1. Sabine-- Ah, so this is what Ireland looks like. I guess I won't be going there any time soon.

  2. Oh no, so sorry the gray is keeping your brother from not moving near you. It really seems persistent though.

    1. Patti-- This persistent gray has been a bummer. I did check our weather and it says we're in for a sunny week, after today ... of course. We'll see.

    1. Steve-- That must be quite a change for you after all your years in sunshiny Florida.

  4. For a sky watcher like yourself it must really be frustrating to have days of grey! We usually have clouds just sitting on our valley each morning, and for the last few days the sun dried things up later on. Today some thunder storms are forecast around noon. Who knows if it will really happen!

    1. Barbara-- Yes, that's exactly it, why it bums me out so much. I think I'm going to have to find some new things to draw me outside if I can no longer rely on the beauty of our skies. A thunder storm would be nice!

  5. I have to have sunny skies too. My brother lives in Camas WA and I could never live there where it is overcast and drizzly most of the time.

    1. ellen-- When Roger and I retired we moved from sunny Santa Cruz to cloudy bleak Port Townsend, WA. We lasted four years there and gave up. Too overcast and drizzly all the time. It's starting to feel like Port Townsend here these days. Ugh.

    1. EllenD-- The weather forecast says it's going to be sunny for the next 10 days (after today, of course!). We'll see. I do hope they have it right this time.

  9. Here, its mostly sunny. No long cloudy periods. we also don't get much rain...12 to 12 inches a year.

    1. Red-- The average yearly rainfall here is 46 inches. Most of that is SUPPOSED to fall in winter. The rest of the year is SUPPOSED to be dry. The seasons just don't behave the way they used to.

  10. We've had a lot of sunshine here in NE Ohio, but also some rain.
Yesterday I realized your blog title is not The New Dharma Burns.

    1. Joanne-- We may get some sunshine today, and we will be so grateful for that. Our blog title is a reference to a book that Roger and I both loved: Jack Kerouac's The Dharma Bums.
